Uluyayla is a high plateau in the Ulus district of Bartın, averaging 1,000 metres in altitude. In season its lush forests turn orange and green. There is also a cave with an underground river running through it.

The road from Bartın to Ulus (40 km) is quite good. Before reaching Ulus town centre, turn right towards Eldeş Village to reach Uluyayla. The road presents incredible scenery but is rather demanding — you travel about 35 km of mountain road. It is quite possible to encounter wild animals along the way.

Be sure to bring provisions before heading up to the plateau — there are no shops there. There is also nowhere to stay. Go with a plan and a magnificent landscape of lush meadows awaits you. I’m certain your camera’s shutter will be rejoicing.
