Canlı Balık Restaurant
Amasra Center · Karadeniz balığı, Türk mezeleri, Deniz ürünleri · $$$
Amasra's most storied fish restaurant at Küçük Liman, serving since 1945. Three generations of family expertise, fresh Black Sea catch and the legendary Amasra Salad on a 150-seat sea-view terrace.
Experience Passed Down Through Generations
In its 3,000 year history Amasra has been a town of people who take fish from the sea and set it before their guests. Canlı Balık Restaurant carries that tradition on.
Mustafa Amca (Mustafa Ayyıldız) founded the restaurant on the shore of the Small Harbour (Küçük Liman) in 1945. After his death in 1992 his children and grandchildren carried the place forward with the experience and standard of service they inherited from him. In 2003 the name changed to “Mustafa Amca’nın Yeri Canlı Balık Restaurant” — Uncle Mustafa’s Place.
Highlights from the menu
- Amasra Salad — the region’s own recipe: tomato, onion, walnut and unripe grape molasses
- Steamed Anchovy — the Black Sea’s iconic fish, with nothing but hazelnut oil
- Stuffed Mussels — fresh local mussels with a house-made filling
- Rakı and Fish Table — for two, two kinds of seasonal fresh fish with a full spread of meze
The fresh catch changes with the season: bonito in October and November, whiting through the winter, bluefish in spring. Squid and sea bream join the menu in summer.
