A Coast Away from the Crowds
There are two kinds of summer on the Bartin coast. One is spent on the wide sands of İnkumu, among sunloungers and facilities. The other is spent at Mugada, far more quietly.
Mugada is not a major tourist centre. Settlement along the shore is sparse and the beach is plain. That is exactly why locals and those who dislike crowds know it.
Hatipler Beach also lies along this stretch of coast.
Who it suits
Those seeking quiet. Even in mid-July the density of İnkumu is absent here.
Day visitors. Its proximity to central Bartin makes it easy to come in the morning and return in the evening.
Photographers. The shoreline and the green behind it are well suited to uncrowded frames.
On the other hand: facilities, sunloungers and places to eat are limited. It is worth bringing what you need with you.
Things to keep in mind
You are on the open Black Sea coast. Lifeguard cover is not as widespread here as at places like İnkumu, so more care is needed when entering the water. Rip currents can form even when the sea looks calm.
Do not swim alone and never let children out of sight.
How to get there
Follow the road from central Bartin down to the coast; Mugada is signposted. Visitors coming from Amasra first descend to Bartin, then continue.
Public transport options are limited, especially outside the season. Your own vehicle is the practical choice.
